Looking at the recent performance’s of the Indian Team, my opinion goes for including Saurav Ganguly as a potential candidate for the next World Cup.
Sehwag with Ganguly as openers can be a huge threat to any opponent keeping in mind
that Rahul Dravid and Chappel has to stop experimenting with the batting order. Sachin
& Dravid suit more for the middle order pattern and Irfan Pathan should be regulary used in the slog
overs because we have observed that the Indian Team does has lacked the ability to
post promising score or chase even after getting a good start.
Ganguly should not be evaluated on his performance in the Challenger Series and given more
opportunities in ODI & Test Matches. His performance as an opener has been impressive and
has the ability to play defensive & attacking game looking at the conditions. His ability to bowl
also suits the ODI conditions.
Looking at the record of Saurav Ganguly against any opponent the selectors should give him
a full chance of comeback in the playing XI and think positively towards the World Cup.
