Selectors & politicians, plz do stop this

Hi friends,

This is not another review discussing Saurav Ganguly’s selection debates. But I am overtly concerned about a closely related topic. I think too much has been written and told on this selection issue and the umpteen cricket followers ‘d just be showing a feeling of déjà vu , if I am going to write a review on this one. I was also a diehard fan of Saurav, but with the mercurial rise of swashbuckling Yuvraj Singh, his exit seems the only possible wayout. But what makes me (and I’m sure a large no of cricket savvy people) worry is not the selection of Saurav or his ouster , but the interest shown by certain persons in making his selection procedure a golden opportunity to attract unwarranted media attention.

These days the names of More , Dalmiya , Pawar and the never ending list of related politicians seems to be filling the cricket columns than that of the current players. It is utmost rueful to see such sort of selfish and selfcentred activities taking place in a robust way, when poor Ganguly is striving for his resurrection( even though its still a pipedream )

One must vehemently support the ex-cricketer who once called the selectors jokers. More is ostensibly more in action these days than during his playing days. One day his ‘million dollar’ brain realizes the allround potential in Ganguly and within a few days , he ignores that and goes for Ganguly’s experience. If some day he is feeling bored, he knows exactly how to make the day an enjoyable one. He’d just call a press conference and unleash the complaints about Ganguly. Why should a senior player like Ganguly play in ranji matches, if he is quite satisfied with the net practice at the eden gardens?? Niranjan Shah is also not far behind. This duo seem to be really media frantic.

But what role does a board president play in the selection issues? Why should he keep on chanting that the decision to drop Ganguly was wrong? Indian cricket is vociferously asphyxiated by this dirty, stinking politics . Only god almighty knows when this great game would be able to break free from the ugly tentacles of internal politics. And then comes the real serious part.   I don’t know what the hell on earth made the Lok Sabha decide to spend time on the Saurav selection issue.

It is really pathetic that the largely looming demise of this great Indian cricketer is seen by some as a perfect base for fulfilling their own personal needs. Hope, this will never occur again.

This is my first review on mouthshut. I know this review has a lot of flaws. So all mouthshut readers plz do type ur views on this review in the comments section. I welcome all sorts of taunting remarks , coz I believe there is no scope for improvement in the absence of sarcasm.

Thanking You,
