Media is missing their favorite bakra/ scape goat/ guinea pig/ call him whatever but the bottom line is media is missing Sourav Ganguly like traveler on a desert misses water to drink!
There has been no replacement for him with any other player. The media tried to drag Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar in similar fashion but it didn’t quite work out.
And Greg Chappell, aww common, a total failure!
The verdict: Sourav Ganguly reigns his slot with the media.
There’s no doubt that ever since the grave injustice happened to Sourav Ganguly, the entire Indian team has been in disarray. There have been discrete attempts from various players to surface out and proclaim their solidarity for Sourav. That’s a different story that they have be suppressed to the newly formed Indian Board. Some names that appeared in the media are Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Mohammed Kaif, Ashish Nehra. Well, these are the names that were reported by the media. But we don’t know about the whisperers! But then, wasn’t the media itself got suppressed by the BCCI?
It seems rather awkward to find these players so very ‘within themselves’ these days- fighting with oneself. Let’s take the situation of Harbhajan Singh or for that matter Yuvraj Singh. They clearly seem to emit elements of insecurity with regards to their place in the team. It is definitely not related to their playing form but because of the fact that they realize that they may soon follow suit to what happened to other Sourav supporters like Zaheer, Nehra, some selectors and co.
So, basically the unity of the team is at question. Whispers galore tell that Rahul Dravid has become totally alien from the rest of the team owing to his selfishness and possessiveness of holding to the captaincy seat.
Question arise whether the selectors and the coach really have a healthy mind? Prompt comes out the answer- a big NO.
Kiran More, Greg Chappell and also to quite an extent Rahul Dravid are accountable to give rational, yes, I would like to repeat, rational answers on why Sourav Ganguly has not been selected of late despite of the Indian batting’s miserable opening and middle order performance in recent times whereas as Sourav Ganguly has been performing and winning matches to everyone’s appreciation in the domestic circuit.
Reasons that dada is getting older and is not playing well now seem outdated and the common man, ex-players, cricket pundits and the media are ridiculing such comments.
At the end of this penning, I would only like to reiterate that evil and injustice in the form of Greg Chappell, Kiran More and Rahul Dravid will soon end and we will soon find sanity returning to Indian cricket. Sourav Ganguly will be soon playing for the Indian XI- don’t be surprised if he becomes one of the key players for India for the forthcoming World Cup!
