Saurav Ganguly had been an important part of the Indian team since his first century (113) against Srilanka in 1995-96. He had given India a lot of victories as a player and also as a captain. He is now one of the best ODI batsmen and the best captain in the history of Indian cricket as well as the world cricket.
There is no substitute for his beatiful shots on the offside as well as the lofted shots over the mid-on and mid-off. He has also proved himself as an allrounder by taking 5 wickets against Pakistan and taking 4 wickets against Srilanka and Zimbawe. His decisions of sending Parthiv Patel as an opener against Pakistan in the recent test series and his decision to send Ajit Agarkar as a pinch hitter against Zimbawe when the last toured India proved successful.
Parthiv Patel took 68 while Ajit Agarkar took 95. I strongly believe that his hardwork is the major reason for his success. He has the guts to take decisions and if he continues to take good decisions and the luck favours him, he could (I strongly believe) bring the next cricket world cup to India.
