I watched this film on my own yesterday (more sympathy please!!) because nobody else wanted to watch it...they have missed out on a great film.
The film starts with a quick introduction, so that you know what is going on. Girl v. good at ballet, mum died in a car crash on the way to see her dance, she wont dance any more. Instead of draging this bit of story out for half an hour, which is what most films do, its all told in five minutes but is still easy to understand. After that they story starts, she moved in with her Dad and starts at a school where everyone else is coloured, this isnt a problem to her and she soon gets together with a boy there. His friends however dont like the fact that she is white. At the same time he gets her to tell him all about her mum and eventually convinces her to dance again.
There are some funny parts in the film, when she first goes to a nightclub she has no idea how to dance to the R&B music they are playing, hilarious watching her, not that I would have any more idea than she did.
The acting is brilliant, not too many well known people in the film but I find that easier. Nothing more offputting than seeing someone in a film and spending hours trying to think where you have seen them before hence missing out on half the film.
The soundtrack, well if you like R&B music you will love the soundtrack. I personnally dont like R&B but it fits in with the film brilliantly.
My friends now all want to see this film after I have told them about it and we have already pre-ordered it on DVD. Looks like I will be seeing it many more times!
