T started when I decided to end all the annoying calls I got from SBI credit card marketing persons.
I applied for the SBI credit card. After three weeks I got an SBI card. I opened the parcel and saw the card, and I wanted to shout loudly you, because cardholders name of my card was my
fathers name. I remembered what the credit card rep said, "Sir our security verifications are very strict, and it is not easy to get an SBI card" After all this Strict security check they had decided the cardholders name.
LOL Ok, I know SBI is a Govt. company, and they are supposed to behave like
this.
So I called their customer care to ask for a name change, initially a recorded voice said Your call will be answered with in 15 seconds, (Wow, I thought) count down started and ended at one second. You
might have guessed that the count down was a crap and I was waiting for 20 minutes. Ok finally I informed my problem to customer care. You need to write to customer care’s mail Id, he said. I sent a detailed mail to customer care, after 3 weeks they replied For name change we require proof so send corresponding document copy. I replied, Damn that is what I had given when I applied for the card. After a week I got
the same reply from them, so I scanned my PAN card and sent it to them.
Finally they said that they corrected the name in their records.
After five days I called the customer care for verification and they addressed me with my fathers name. I asked about the name change, they said sorry sir, well correct it right now. Ok happy at least it got corrected now, I thought. After three weeks I got a new card through courier. After a month, I received a monthly statement mail from them that addressed me with some other name (neither mine nor my fathers). I opened the
PDF statement to see the cardholders name.
If you guessed that it was my fathers name, Congrats you know how SBI works. Apart from this they have charged EMI for their so-called SBI card Insurance plan, which I didnt opt for. I activated my SBI credit card
account just before a month; I didn’t activate it for initial two months because of the name conflict. But EMI was charged for three months.
Again, I sent a mail (Shout) to customer care about the name change and got the reply, We have corrected your name in our records. Did they change? I dont bother. I’m going to cancel their card. I dont want to use their card and talk to their irresponsible customer care.You may ask, Man what happened to the insurance money they charged? Yes I called their customer care, First person I got over the phone explained about the insurance plan.
I said I DONT NEED THAT and then he transferred the call to Card Insurance Dept. After 30 minutes hold I got The Insurance Person and asked him to waive the insurance EMI charged, which I didnt opt for. He started explaining the insurance plan for 15 minutes, he didnt even attempt to listen what I was saying. After this entire struggle, he said he could waive the EMI amount only
for 2 months and I have to pay the remaining 1-month EMI amount.
Doesnt matter, that amount is less than what I spend for the telephone call charges, when I talk to their customer care.I have 0% trust on SBIs customer care; Im going to cancel my card because of their POOR customer care service. I have nothing positive to write about it, because I have not used their card for any transactions. Im using HSBC and Im happy with it. Trivia: I tried to create User ID SBISUCKS in their website, But somebody has created it already. LOL.
