One often finds the most spectacular things in the very mundane.
Never ever start a review with a cliche!
Anyway, this is a movie which did not make such a big impression on me. Al Pachino is a great actor and he always acts great, not just in this movie. Two things about this movie,
a) It has one of the most beautiful women with the most enchanting face I have ever seen in Gabrielle Anwar.. wow, what a face. Shes there hardly for 5 minutes, but her scene.. well get to her scene in a minute..
b) One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever.. a tango piece .. I forget the name..
In short, Al Pachino is a perverted blind man, Chris O Donnel is a college kid who is taking care of the old man while his (Al Pachinos) family goes away on vacation. Perverted - why? Because this guy can smell a woman from far away, and keeps rambling about how god made them for only one reason, and it doesnt matter how their legs look, its whats between them thats important - hmm.. oh well, Ive heard it put better.. but anyway.. point is, hes a perverted old man, with a sharp sense of dimensions and objects.. often surprising people by knowing theyre in front of him without them making a sound. Al Pachino takes off with the kid to New York, and has a great time, and wants to end it all after having a great time on the weekend.
Skip to a scene in New York when they go for dinner and see a beautiful lady sitting alone. They go to her, introduce themselves, then Al Pachino takes her for a little tango dance, and this scene always makes it to the top 10 scenes in hollywood history lists, and for good reason. You have to watch the entire movie just for this scene, its awesome. Kind of reminds you of the dance scene in Sound Of Music when Maria says i dont remember anymore .. well this ones much much better with better music, and a better looking lady ;)
Has some good one liners too, but of course, there are movies out there with better one liners.. (fight club!! go see that for one liners )
All in All, definitely worth watching once.
