The movie is recommended only for age group: 16 or above that.
The movie was released in 1994, I seized the opportunity of watching this movie in 1995. Its almost 7 years from the day I had the privilege to watch this movie. I am jotting down the review on Schindlers List (now onwards read as SL) on the basis of what I have been able to recall, though its tough, still I am making an attempt, please bear with me.
Public at large would be fascinated by Steven Spielberg ( now onwards read as SS) for his directorial movie Jurassic Park released in 1994. But, my personal belief is that Jurassic Park hadnt to do much with direction, it has enormous scope for special effects and dinosaurs. While on the other hand SL is the directors movie. The movie leaves enough space for direction and acting. The movie doesnt have scope for special effects or latest technology but still is highly worth watching movie. This is the movie which killed the thirst of SS and fetched him Best Director Award for 1994 at 67th Annual Acamdemy Awards.
The script has been built on a true story that took place with a German businessmen, Oskar Schindler by name during Second World War. The movie moves around this greedy businessmen who earns his bread and butter from the lives of 1, 000 Jews and later how he turns out to be a humanitarian saving lives of the Jews from the hands of Amon Goeth, the head of German concentration camp.
On the front of acting, Liam Neeson (Oskar Schindler) and Ralph Fiennes (Amon Goeth) are fabulous. Not only the front line star cast but also other actor and actresses too have acted brilliantly.
As far as direction is concerned, this movie is surely a directors movie. Whether, its the scene of womens being forced to run on streets in birth dress or it being a scene of German officers at the concentration camp every part is masterly articulated. SS has masterly shown a fight between live and evil. If one puts enough endeavour and watches the movie carefully he/she can find out that SL is the movie were acting is mostly done by eyes, the eyes with all sort of emotions i.e. fear, anger, cruelty, cunningness, greed, confession, etc. Its a perfect movie, I felt as if I am watching LIVE ACTION of Barbarism . Thats why I call SS, a man with Midas Touch who has produced an ALL TIME CLASSIC movie. I firmly believe that this movie should be included in the syllabus of School for Acting and Direction. While, leaving the seat of cinema hall both SL and SS left a deep impression on my mind.
People not interested in watching off-bit movies too should watch this movie and they would be able to know that why only SL has fetched SS his first Oscar and not any of his other movies.
The movie was banned from being released in Germany.
Watch it to Believe it.
