Ram: The Scion of Ikshvaku

James Baldwin once said, ” You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read. It was books that taught me that the things that tormented me most were the very things that connected me with all the people who were alive, who had ever been alive”

With utmost earnestness, I think this quote is straight from the shoulder, after- all books are, unarguably, a man’s best friend, a companion in the most overwhelming situations, and more-so the partisan of ethical beliefs who would never let your life lose its track or ulterior purpose. Personally speaking, I have always gone a bundle on reading novels or other forms of narratives. The fictional prose, in its minimal realism, has always helped me meander gently in a world where imagination is all that speaks.

Further, if a slight balance between the virtuous reality and salvation is what you are seeking, then mythology is just the genre for you, and well that is exactly what this post is all about!

Mythology in its right spirits irrevocably aims at describing the path to purity, endorses about the avenue to contentment, and righteously focuses on enriching our souls, deep down to its very core! However, off late, the trend has been revamped and eventually ingrained in such a fashion that the real essence of mythology has somehow taken a back seat. Forget about ventilating your views on the topic, mere participation in discussions concerning mythology somehow manages to blow the trumpet out of proportion in no time, eventually bringing in concepts of atheists, their beliefs, the validity of religions, so on and so forth, hence creating a forlorn situation for the genuine ones.

Thus, to negate these very ideologies about mythology, despite remaining uncontroversial in his outlook, here is an exquisite piece of work by the bestselling novelist Amish Tripathi. “Ram- scion of Ikshvaku”, as the name suggests talks about the “descendant of a notable family”, basically hinting on one of the sovereigns of Hindu mythology- Lord Ram also acknowledged as the Ram Chandra. The book is a modern take on one of the greatest legends of all times, ” Ramayan”. Barring the names of the characters, the story has been completely refurbished, shifting the motive from morals to trade and corruption in order to maintain the link with the present scenario. However, it does not fail to once again glorify the concept of, ” good triumphs over evil”, something that has indeed been the basis of our existence; thereby making it the quintessential read!

So, what are you waiting for? Don’t hold back your horses any longer. This book is a perfect blend of reality and credence.

Give it a shot and drift away out of everyone’s reach, into a world of bygone and peace!

And until then, stay safe, stay soulful!
