Scooby and Shaggy, Stoners?

I recently went to see Scooby Doo at my local theater, and amidst the babies cries and the youngins repeating the characters on screen 4 or 5 times, I throughly enjoyed myself. As I sat watching the movie, I listened to the kids laugh at the jokes that just don’t seem too funny to me at my age. Then, a joke came on screen that had me and about 2 other people in the theater rolling in the aisles. The screen showed the Mystery Machine, the scoobster’s hippie van converted into a crime fighting machine. At the top of the van smoke rolled out. The camera then panned down into the van as Shaggy said ’’ talk about being toasted’’. How could someone not find that funny? Another allusion twoards Shag and Scoob partying with ’’hippie lettuce’’ was when they two met a very attractive young woman, who introduced herself as Mary Jane. After hearing this, Shaggy, with strangely glazed looking eyes, said ’’that’s our favorite name’’. There were more, but these two alone show Shaggy and Scooby boogie with the ’’Whacky Tabacky’’.
