Nostalgia....that is one word that can effectively describe the feeling I get whenever I think of this restaurant. This was the restaurant where I spent most of my adolescent days...a place where I used to spend the evenings with my close friends, discussing problems, planning the future, sharing dreams!
The first thing that strikes you here is the sea! Its a pleasure to watch the sunset from this hotel. I remember Sea View as the hotel where I used to sit with my childhood friend, sipping a Coke, with the owner looking quietly around from his table, and two of his dogs, a Great Dane and a Dobberman, sprawling on the floor. (The last time I had been here, I learnt about the demise of the owner.)
This hotel was never known for its food. The main source of its income seemed to be the open space, adjacent to the restaurant, that the owner rented out for parties. The only thing that this hotel offers is what its name suggests- Sea View. And what an experience it is, to sip a drink while watching the sun set. The sky changes its colours like a chameleon. From blue to orange to red to greyish red to black! And you see all this over a glass of chilled beer, and a heart-to-heart talk with a friend!
I remember that I had composed my very first television title music while watching the sunset from this hotel. I had also composed another musical score here, and had aptly named it Sunset Romance. It went on to win the All Bombay Amateur Talent Meet. So, whats my point? Simple...I just want you all to know that the sight you get from this hotel captivates your soul, fascinates your senses!
So, my advice to you all would be, just enter Sea View with a person you love, order a chilled beer, enjoy the sea holding each others hands, experience the magic of the sunset....and then...well, just pay the cheque and have your dinner at the Bhelpuri shops on the beach. If you need some polished restaurants, Juhu has plenty! But honestly, dont you think that having bhel at Juhu is much more romantic?
