I have had a seagate 640 gb external drive and various internal drives.
The internal drives performed beautifuly without flaws this was borught back between 2005-2008
In 2010 I purchased a 640gb external drive to help me with my backups on my mac and it performed flawlessly for 2 years and then suddenly it would not get detected just make a clicking noise or take time for the oartitions to load up, since I purchased the drive out of India and have no clue where I kept the innvoice I decided to retire the drive and use my buffalo hdd.
A year back I needed a drive to cater to my home entertainment basically to play flac files and some digital movie purchases. I did not want to risk compatibility issues with higher capacities so I went ahead with this drive, lets face it, I just had one hard drive fail on me but still work and decide not to work based on its moods.
This drive features a usb 3.0 port which ensures files transfer quick, the drive being light weight and slim ensures you can easily carry it around where ever you need. The drive worked pretty well till about a month back when I was watching a movie and it just froze, the hard drive was busy making a clicking noise, sound form the head which means the drive is done for even if it works it may fail in future, without much thinking I pulled out the invoice and handed over the drive to seagate.
This was my first time using seagates warranty services and it has been an utter disgust.
I have used buffalos warranty service and they were very quick with a turn around time of 3-4 days since lodging a complaint to picking uo your hard drive and shipping it back to you.
Seagate on the other hand took about 20 days to have a replacement drive handed over to me.
