Big mistake!!

K-serials! You like them at first, each time thinking that maybe this time its something different, but you end up pulling your hair. You watch it coz you like the actor or character, but suddenly there’s a plastic surgery and you miss him out altogether. You don’t watch it for a few days, and you find that someone or the other got married or divorced. What creativity! Simple to apply formula and no sense!

The plot is common- A large family. A bad saas, a good bahu and a bitchy vamp plus a doormat husband. Plus unwed pregnancies, extramarital affairs, rapes, old secrets, 20-year leaps and what not. Its fantasy land- oh Ho!!! And what a picture of Indian society.

Lets start with Kahaani. It started as a perfect story of a sweet daughter in law who kept her family together. But now??? Murder, mysteries, multiple marriages, infinite pregnancies, god knows what.

Kyunki followed suit. It has so many twists in the life of Tulsi that you start wondering why she hasn’t gone into depression yet. All upheavals seem to be happening with her. And Mr. Mihir believes everyone in the world, except his wife. Great! Fantastic!

Logic is something which doesn’t apply anywhere here. Lets take the example of KGGK where Shruti and Monalika went to college together although Shruti was about 12 years old when Monalika wasn’t even born. And forget about Mahek’s 18 months pregnancies.

But aren’t that bad. They start out well and are worth a watch where actors and presentation is concerned. The best one as far as I got was Kahin To Hoga which was the story of 2 persons who get separated coz of their priorities in life, with the stories of other sisters interweaved suitably. But Ekta couldn’t bear this, and insulted and chucked out the lead and the best actor of the serial who refused a rape in the serial and requested for a better storyline, only to introduce a dummy who doesn’t know how to act. So get the message loud and clear, finding logic in Ekta Kapoor soaps- hazardous.

The good point is that we get something to criticise all day long, and yet the womenfolk are so addicted to these serials that they have now virtually raided the TV sets.
