Worthy Seven Pounds!!!

I am not a Will Smith fan but I started liking him after watching “The Pursuit of Happiness”, and believe me “Seven Pounds” is another Gem from him. The movie is really a treat to watch, it is an emotional drama, and you will not get any clue of Will’s indifferent behavior until the end.

I just read this comment by someone about the movie and wanted to share it with you “If this movie doesn’t touch every sentimental nerve in your body and reach to the core of your soul, you are not human”. And that’s really true, the movie is so well portrayed and wonderful acting by each and everyone, that it will definitely leave your eyes dampen.

The Plot: The movie starts with Ben Thomas(Will Smith) an IRS agent calling for 911 and when he is asked about the emergency, he says that there is been a suicide and he is the victim. And then it all starts and movie goes into flashback and it makes us guessing the reason for his attempt to commit suicide.

Then we will see different aspects of his life. Sometimes being rude to a blind call centre executive Ezra Turner (Woody Harrelson) and sometimes being so helpful to complete strangers when they are really in need of that. And it follows on his secret mission to seek out seven strangers in desperate need of help. His childhood friend Dan (Berry Pepper) is the only one who is aware of his mission and promised Ben to help him in that. And then he meets Emily Posa (Rosario Dawson) who is down with congenital heart problem and not doing well financially either and has even worse taxes history which is making her life miserable and then Ben tries to sort out her problems and eventually falls in love with her.

And also he meets other people including Ezra and gets more into their life and tries to understand their problem and ascertain that they are really worthy of his help to them. And also you will see Ben’s brother (Michael Ealy) who is aware of the situation and trying to trace him down.

Best scenes

• Ben tells Emily that the unremarkable would be an upgrade for him.

• When Ben signs some contract with his childhood friend and they discuss about the plan. How his friend was trying to convince him of not doing it.

• When Emily faints and calls Ben from hospital, he tells her some story on the phone.

• Emily invites Will for a dinner.

• Ben gets into bathtub poured with ice cubes in it and it all ends.

• Emily meets Ezra at the end, it’s so touching.

Good one liner,

• Ben - The unremarkable would be an upgrade for me.

• Emily - Ben, this is a ridiculous apology.

And few lines from one of the soundtrack at the end are really touching,

Have no fear in your heart

Though you feel you’ve been broken and lost

There’s a place where we will meet up again

There’s a place that mends your hurt and takes you in

There are times faced alone

When you find all the holes in yourself

You don’t have to walk the night on your own

I will say a prayer for you to lead you on

I will say a prayer for you when you have gone.

I would not go more into story as that would be a real spoiler. However I knew the story in the beginning but still I was glued to the screen till the end. It’s really a must watch movie, a wonderful acting by all especially by Will Smith, Rosario Dawson and Woody. And Will Smith definitely deserves an award his work in the movie. I loved the way he was trying to control his emotions in few scenes, he has really proved his mettle.
