I am a movie buff and subscribe to a local dvd rental service in Bangalore and have been quite happy last few years. Earlier this year started getting many calls from 70 mm and decided to give it a try in Feb. The salesperson promised many freebies like encyclopaedia, gift vouchers and some free movies. I was told that it will be delivered after 6-7 days of subscription. Well, that never happened. After some followup, got a cd with 3 hindi movies. Never got the encyclopedia. Got a regret mail once saying they were sorry for not being able to service the gifts and will take care of it asap. That never happened.
Apart from this, service works. That is, if they have the movies in stock. That wasa huge disappointment. Most of the movies I wanted were either not in their library, or were not available for that point of time or were not available in DVD format. Some of the DVDs not in stock are fairly common ones.
I decided not to renew the 3 month subscription in May. As expected, they called and I explained I wont renew. They still kept calling and I kept repeating the same thing. The last rental has still not been picked up since last 1 month. I have ordered a pickup twice online and both times they sent an sms saying they tried to pickup thrice without success. Which is completely wrong as we were at home all the time. They keep sending sms to hand over the movies but there is nothing I can do if they dont land on my doorstep. So far, movie is still with me.
All in all, service has no personal touch. If it works it works, if it doesnt, you cant reach anyone. Mails go unanswered and phone is not picked up. Looks like a company that is doomed for closure sooner or later.
