Seventy MM : Quiet Un-entertaining!

Well! in the field of entertainment there is no place bad media.  This is what I learnt the hard way taking the services of seventymm.

It was a dream come true for me when they told about the concept and got me going on a month of unlimited free movies.  Free home delivery and pickup, select movies online - WOW!  I never even thought twice when they took 999 Rs as deposit. Anyways I was going to get it back when I stop service. It went without a hitch say first 2 months.  I went on my vacation and missed two subscription on Dec and Jan.  Seventy MM contacted me sometime in Feb and I said I was discontinuing service since I was not interested.  The guy hooked me on to a 999 Rs 6 monthly plan - which they took from my security deposit.  Promise was deduction of movies for previous two unpaid months and around 23 movies the next three months Feb, Mar and Apr 2008.  I started again.  But then started all the problems.  Out of say 6 movies sent, I can say at least 3 to four movies either had bad scratched CD’s.  DVD’s had Unknown region error or No Disc error.

Moreover the availability of DVD was less compared to VCDs - hence option of VCD movies instead of DVD - again - bad quality.  I complained profusely and asked even for a refund.  An person in the form of an angel came and told me he would sort out all my issues and to directly call him up for new movies drop and old movie pickup. He even assured me he would unlock my DVD for region error.  I started interacting directly with this person who would assuredly sent me the movies I wanted.  VCD in case DVD unavailable.  But the quality of movies did not improve.  End of Feb 2008 I was left with and assurance that I would get a month of extension at the end for a month of bad service.  Kaput! I lost his direct number since formating my phone.  Lots of calls to 70 MM, and I am still not able to get the person, even though I get vague promised that he’ll call back on me.  Anyways a few movies I tried taking after that gave me the same scratched media or bad DVD.

I got frustrated and shot a mail to 70 MM asking for a refund of my money.  This they have acknowledged, but I haven’t heard from them for ages.  Yeah! Its May 2008.  A long long time expecting anything. Beware, they will keep assuring of better service.  It would have been really grateful if they would have checked how good media was before sending it across.  I guess they are least bothered.  Anyways I have since switched to cheaper and alternate means of entertainment - my local Movie Rental shop.  Much cheaper and I can at least meet someone in person and hold him responsible in case of any problems.  n rather than spent a lot of money and un-reasonable service out of a movie rental company that has just has a website to do everything and no one to hold responsible.

Geees! Thanx for reading my dramatic review.  Hope it has helped.  U should have expected none less - after all I feel conned of my 999 Rs!
