Seventymm – Fails To Deliver Efficient Service.

Seventymm – Fails To Deliver Efficient Service.

Outstanding customer service is one of the essential factors for the success of any business company & it’s what makes customers become repeat customers. But today most of the businesses are suffering from poor customer service. In India most of the respected groups fail to provide decent customer service. Very sad to say, but when it comes to customer service, the movie rental services specially Seventymm is among the worst of offenders.

I like to watch old classic Hindi & English movies. I have a wide range of classic collections in my personal library. After several marketing calls & interesting rental schemes, fight against illegal pirate videos, free delivery & pickup from seventymm I decided to sign the seventymm movie rental service.

Initially the company’s concept of following the business strategy of American video rental service was very impressive, like registering and pays up online for a rental plan that suits the customer’s plans & choices of watching movies regularly. They claimed to have many options for the customers, they’ve got plenty to choose from - English, Hindi, Regional fare, old movies, latest hits, classics etc. After a big launch & little initial success they failed to deliver efficient services.

In the first few weeks their services were good, but after sometime services started falling from bad to worse. There were delays in delivery and the call centre was not at all helpful. The deliver boys were not punctual & never delivered at right time. We never get the movies of our choice to watch. Even the quality of DVDs was not good. Their website is often down & during weekends their shop will be closed.

I use to wait for the new releases which take some time to come to seventymm as the service only has only originals movies which is a good thing. But many a times they send wrong movies which we have not ordered. The movies which were added in the wish list were not delivered even after two months. Finally I closed my membership after false promises. The deposit was not refunded & it was adjusted in providing poor extended services.

Recently I read in a business magazine that Moser Baer has sued SeventyMM for Rs. 50 Crores/ lawsuit for ‘violating’ its’ sole and exclusive video rental rights’. In its petition, Moser Baer, which has around 10, 694 film titles, alleged that Seventymm Services which provides DVDs on rent and online downloading of movies was offering films without any authority, as it (Moser Baer) has the sole right to distribute to "third parties and their members".

Moser Baer further said that Seventymm was offering some popular Bollywood movies for which it (Moser Baer) has acquired "sole and exclusive video rental rights". The titles are Jab We Met, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Yuva, Shaurya, 36 China Town, Garam Masala, Hungama, Halla Bol, Apna Sapna Money Money etc.

Overall very poor service by seventymm, still if one likes to watch some good collection of movies at their door step without the hassles of late payment they can go for this movie rental service. Personally I don’t recommend.

I sincerely hope the management will stick to its promotional policies and works on it to improve the service. If they fail to offer good customer service to their members, they won’t have verymany repeat customers.
