As somebody whos already put up reviews prior to this - the service is no longer worth it.
I am one of those guys who was "Once bitten, twice bitten and now shy"!
I subscribed to the service very early when they hit Mumbai - and gave me a 1 month trial! I simply loved it. Paid them for 2 months unlimited - hated them for it - used to take ages for them to deliver(they improved towards the end of it and are much better now only on delivery time). Anyway, Ill give u a point-by-point review.
- You will never get the first 2-5 movies in your queue - even after it being there for 3 months+.
Reverse or Random ordering is more like it - dont even bother to arrange your queue. POOR INVENTORY.
Billing is totally worthless - their system simply doesnt work. Never and read NEVER ever give standing instructions on any card whatsoever.
Refund process is so cumbersome - and you have to actually spend money by calling them at least a dozen times in order to get a refund - almost took me 2.5 months(this was my 1st time).
I re-subscribed to the service about 6 months later when they assured me that the services had improved(this time I made sure I didnt need to leave a deposit - it was some limited time offer at Big Bazaar). Absolutely no improvement.
To top it all - my 6 month(36 movies) subscription expired yday and they send a guy to ask for payment - without even having the courtesy to call me up and convince me that I should continue. This to me was completely uncalled for and unprofessional.
Just a few silver linings to be impartial:
The helpline is generally courteous - never found a bad agent.
Excellent Sales Team - could convince anybody that their service rocks(which actually is much farther from the truth) - they did fool me twice.
They do call back via phone on complaints(100% every time) on E-mail - but never really solve the issue - just procrastinate it.
Decent collection - if u are a movie buff and dont care which movie u want to watch - worth it.
My verdict:
AVOID IF U CAN.
P.S. I worked out a deal with my local DVD-guy - he charges me 300 a month - unlimited movies - unlimited time - and unlimited take outs at any time(I have 10-12 DVDs lying with me some time) - but not all of them are original.
UPDATE(Nov 20, 2008):
Ok.heres a follow-up. After I posted this review, I sent the link to SeventyMM so that they could respond to it. Prompt came the callback by a certain Mr. Sangram Patil(not sure about his designation in the organisation) - but he left me his number as well. He took the comments extremely seriously and concurred with me on the Inventory part. He saw my history but also wanted me to hear his part of the story. I got excuses like India being an immature market(partly agree) and how the concept of Home Video hasnt gone down too well with the Publishing houses etc.
But, I still hold my ground and have refused to renew my subscription - simple reason being - I am getting a better service(obviously not always official and original DVDs) from my neighbourhood DVD Shop. As I would like to re-iterate - I still think they have top-notch Customer Service(might not necessarily solve your problem - but almost always will call you back) and Sales - but its the lack of Inventory thats shooed me away! You cant have a movie lying in your queue for months together without being delivered!
I leave the verdict to you readers and rest my case.
