Sex and the City presents a true NY picture and the series is well loved by the masses as proved by the numerous awards. Although it is called a comedy series and it is too, it is not the comedy as we Indians understand it. Its the subtle humor at play here, between these four friends and their more than love (cause Indians want it that way), their sex lives.
Sex and the City, can it work in India? Or is it one of those programmes that run for a season and just stop... Does India even have a sex life it wants to make public view of? I must congratulate HBO on spreading awareness and bringing the women out of their shell by introducing series like this (along with Time out and others..) but Sex and the city is just too much for some of us.
Im what, 19 or so...and I find it really fun to watch Samantha fall in love with a guy who she cant have sex with. But will I ever watch it with my mother....? I dont think so.. So, my only advice for HBO people would be to slow it down... Otherwise, the series is delightfully funny and sometimes shockingly true.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and others re very true in portraying their roles as Single New York women because, .... Hello....they are NY women... The series reaffirms the sexual status of women not as objects of desire or gratification, as in hindi movies and series, but as individuals, with substance more than just physical. Although the second series is about to end, we can definitely expect a brighter season ahead.
