Marriage is one such ?Laddoo?, that if you eat it, you will regret and if you won`t eat it even then you`ll regret-this is the message the newly released film ?Shaadi Ka Laddoo? gives. This
is another film, which consists of extra-marital affair-the hottest topic in Bollywood. This film s said to be a light-heart comedy, but actually it turns out to be BORING!So what, if there are animations in this film, or a sexy Negar Khan, or the attractive Mandira Bedi of ?Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? fame, or even Bollywood`s hottest topic? These ingredients still can`t help this film, simply because it lacks so many things!
THE FILM:
?Shaadi Ka Laddoo?, directed by Raj Kaushal stars Sanjay Suri, Mandira Bedi, Aashish Chowdhry, Divya Dutta, Samita Bangargi and Negar Khan.Director, Raj Kaushal, previously directed ?Pyaa Main Kabhi Kabhi? and this time, he is back with this one, bu will it help him.Chances are low!
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Som(Sanjay Suri):Som is married to such a woman who is always after him.If he is in London, she will keep on following him till London, through phone but what Som wants is something else.He wants his bachelorhood again, which he lost, the very moment he got married.Sanjay Suri has always been a good performer in all his films-be it ?Jhankaar Beats? or ?Pinjar? and this time too, he does a very good job, wth ease, but the problem s with the film, itself.Sanjay Suri`s face expressions are very natural and his overall performance is really good.
2.Ravi(Aashish Chowdhry):Ravi has it all what Som wants. He is a bachelor, has lots of money and most importantly lots of girls drooling over him.He owns a music company and has a friend called Tara.Aashish Chowdhry is back on the screen after his first film ?Qayamat?, where he impressed the viewers. This time around, he again performs very well andnever does he let you feel, as if he is uneasy but now we need to see him in a better film.Let`s wait for his next controversial film, ?Girlfriend?.
3.Geetu(Divya Dutta):Geetu is the most irritating wife on this earth. She is boring, stupid but very intelligent when she has to know what her husbad is doing. She is always after him and the most stupid part is that she treats her two dogs as her own children.Divya Dutta is too loud in this film.Instead of making you laugh, she will irritate you. Also, her character will remind you Amrita Rao`s character in ?Masti?.
4.Tara(Mandira Bedi):Tara is a happy-go-lucky person, who has just no problems in life. Her best buddy is Ravi and the new man in her life is Som.Mandira Bedi is excellent as Tara. After her debut(?) film ?Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge? and some tele-serials, she is back with this film, which has been directed by her own husband. She looks what she plays, and does very well. She looks nice and fresh, too.
Samita Bangargi as Meneka is good, but she was better in her last film ?Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai? than in this film, where she is paired wit her real life boyfriend, Aashish Chowdhry.Negar Khan, the hot ?item?, who danced on the ?Chadhti Jawaani-remix? song, then on ?Chod Do Aanchal? and in ?Rudraksh? on ?Ishq Khudai?, is back in a full-fledged role, but whenever she opens her mouth, she loses all her charm which she has created in her item numbers so far.I`m sure her voice is dubbed, in the film and if not, then she should stick to the item numbers because as Sheila, in this film she is impressive in one song only, and not in the whole film.
THE STORY:
Som is tired of his married life, which he is spending with Geetu, his children and two dogs.On the other hand, Ravi is tired of his lonely life where he has no wife or children. These two guys, who have such different thoughts are still such good friends.Ravi resides in London, so when Som visitis London for a business trip, he meets Ravi, there.Ravi asks Som, to stay with him.Som has some ?other? plans, too.He wants to flirt with girls-something from which his wife has forbidden him.Infront of Ravi, he acts as if he is happily married but actually, he is not.Ravi`s best buddy is the cool Tara, with whom he shares every problem of his life, for instance, when Sheila rejected him it was Tara who supported Ravi. When Som meets Tara, for the first time, he starts getting attracted to her.So, he decides to romance her, where as Ravi is trying to get the ?Shaadi Ka Laddoo?, when he falls in love with Meneka, and wants her to be his wife.Geetu, following her husband, Som reaches London, where he is flirting with Tara. Now, what will the over-possessive wife of Som do?
THE WORK OF THE CREW:
Raj Kaushal`s direction is poor.He just failed to fill the ingredient needed for such a film and that is-drama!There is just no drama in the film, which can keep the viewer glued to the screen. That`s why this film falls flat. All the time, in this film, either Som and Ravi are chatting or Tara and Ravi are chatting or Geetu is shouting. There is just no twist or turn in the film.
Screenplay is half-baked.You can`t relate with this film or with its characters.Every character seems lost. The script is outright boring. There is nothing new in this film and the film gets too predictable.
Editing is worse than anything else. Each and every scene is so dragged, that either you`ll YAWN, all the way or otherwise you`ll just go to sleep while watching the film. This film needs some serious trimming!
Cinematography, on the positive side is good and gives the film a refreshing look, also the animations will be appreciated, but this is obviously not the first Bollywood film with animations.?Abhay? and ?Raju Chacha? also consisted of animations.Vishal-Shekhar`s music is amazing.?Chal Hutt?, picturised on the sexy Negar Khan, is the best of the lot, but it is terribly placed, in the film.Where the starting titles say ?SHAADI KA LADDOO?, after a second, you see a sexy song, which has nothing to do with the title of the film and which seems awkward, as the introduction of the film.?Tum Kaho Toh?, is another beautiful song, which is ear-pleasing and as it is picturised so brilliantly, it is also eye-pleasing.
