I have passed out in 97 and at that time this college was a hell for us. Bairi and Kotak were at the peak of torturing the students. We have updated our last semester project reports for more than 5-6 times just because either Bairi’s mood was not good or he didn’t understand anything about the subject. Bairi is a psycho, who I think was sacked from BARC for his psycho attitude. SAKEC was the only place to recruit all psychos.
Kotak was never the less than Bairi when it comes to torturing. On submission day he used to disappear from college. By 5pm when students started leaving college thinking Kotak won’t turn up now, he used to come and take the submissions. Moreover he used to declare that he is not going to take submissions of the rest of the guys who have left. Then from next day we used to run after him everywhere pleading him to take our submission. Finally he would take them after 1 week of pleading.
Most of the Professors were short tempered and had the habit of throwing journals on the floor.
At that time there was only 1 company i.e. Tata Infotech, who used to recruit only 10-14 guys. There was no other company that recruited from SAKEC. Menon was the person who was supposed to get more companies but he had no time other than inducing discipline in the students. He used to think that he is still in military training school.
Also the canteen was bad and you needed guts to try something from the canteen. That canteen was a shady place in the adjacent building (that’s given to SAKEC diploma guys) which was never cleaned. We spent our FE, SE and TE in that building. When we were in FE, the classrooms and drawing rooms were on the terrace with asbestos roof. Imagine spending 1 complete year under those asbestos sheets.
The computer lab was never given to students for project work. At that time very few students had a PC at home and we expected the college to allow students to work in the lab for their project work.
I don’t care about sports and cultural event. I just wanted professors who could teach good and not torture the students just to get off their own frustration.
You say that SAKEC students are recruited by top companies. Any idea if Infosys has recruited from SAKEC? If not, then why don’t they?
I support tech.keeda and there might be a lot of students who suffered like him but no one wants to recollect bad memories and write about it.
I’m happy if the college has changed as mentioned by ‘the_truth’ and ‘date_amol’. Hope these guys are working in either Wipro, TCS and Amdocs in Robotics or Image processing or Event Management and are still getting lessons from Bairi, Kotak and Menon.
