Ra One: Preview

Shekhar Kapoor, the director of international merit calls it “a diverse cinematic experience”, King Khan describes it as “his dream project-materialized for the sake of his children” and the film fraternity of Bollywood refers it as “Indian Super-man”, but what exactly it is going to be in reality? The flaunting promos and omnipresence of Shahrukh in all reality shows across all television channels, however, registers the fact that he is full-fledged into marketing the film and will not leave any stone unturned to make it a box office Super Success, after all this time he is the super- and not Hirthik Roshan as Krishh.

It is probably the biggest film(cost-wise) that is scheduled to get released in 2011. A film on superhero, or call it Indian version of Superman, Spiderman or Batman or for that matter bigger manifestation of Shahrukhs “Mohabbat-man”, the incomplete saga mentioned in Shahrukh’s “Om Shanti Om”. In fact the film is well-set for release with perfect timing, perfect marketing and perfect propaganda, but will it only last for its lobbying or will it be a technical marvel to witness? Only time will tell!

Considering Shahrukh’s favourite larger than life portrayals, please do not expect it to be a genious in terms of storyline or depiction, especially when you have already seen super-man Ra-one dancing to the tunes of Chhammak Chhallo, but yes can be a worthy watch in terms of cinematography and editing. After all, every sci-fi movie or superhero flicks stand alone because of technical geniuses, be it at any film across any part of the globe.

Ofcourse, King Khan needs a standing ovation to have tried his hands on it, in his mid-forties, despite having couple of Backbone and knee injuries. I heard even all the stunts are realistically shot. Though we are still a bit skeptical, but yes would like to see Ra-one fighting its way towards success and Gee-one winning the battle over evit Ra-one at the end. All the best to our Superhero, but a piece of advice at the end: Shahrukh Khan suits better in character roles likes Swades and Chak0de India and would want him to return to his normalcy soon.
