I happen to read a lot of reviews on a variety of products on MS. I just wanted to know if there were any comments on SRK, the brand and saw so many people having commented so much about him with a lot of passion and vigor. Being a die-hard Shahrukh fan I just wanted to put down my thoughts on what I feel about the man, the brand and his phenomenal raise to super-stardom.
The very first thing that strikes me about SRK is that this guy just wholeheartedly invites people to have opinions about him. I read him once say to a journalist "I think I invoke radical passions in people - and that is why I am such a big star" Love him or hate him, U just cant ignore him. He is literally everywhere.. Ads, Movies, TV, Sports, Media, Radio.. hmm - where not.
I love SRK for a plethora of reasons and beyond. I think he is a good actor but more than his acting skills, I love him for the personality he is. I go mad when he speaks and can hear him speak on anything under the sun with rapt attention and seriousness of a eager disciple trying to suck in the words of wisdom from his Guru. He invokes and stirs my boiling emotions to unprecedented extents. He might be stereotyped in terms of his performances but those subtle little nods and expressions are worth a billion glances.
He is the only actor on the planet that I would love to relate to wherever possible in whatever stupid way I can. He is the only actor I think about on a day-to-day basis. He is the only actor to have influenced the way I think and live. He is the only actor to have made me feel crazy about life and living. I sort of tend to like more of philosophers, leaders, thinkers and writers and I put SRK above them all.
There is something mysterious and divine about the way he sits, he looks at others, talks, thinks and feels (at least the way I feel for all that he does). I seem to love myself when I love him. I keep stupidly telling my friends that SRK is my successful version. I refused to see him performing live on Ra. One promotions, as I was scared that my love for him might wane. I have no clue why I felt so.
He has created a unique category of fame having come from such humble background and I just madly love the way he has come up in his life. His stardom transcends success, money, wealth, wisdom and greatness. I think he is as good an actor as many others on the planet are but an exotic star thats so enigmatic on the entertainment firmament.
My favorite movies starring SRK : Chak De! India, Swades, Devdas, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, My Name Is Khan and DDLJ.
Some of my favorite liners from the man himself that I seem to recall right now (not from the movies but from the interviews of his that I insanely cherish reading/watching)
I was born to be a star.
I will be very honest. I don’t say this with any immodesty or self-centered pompousness. I don’t have any competition. I have not come here to compete, I have come here to rule.
Im the greatest lover of the world.
Even if youre not hungry, just be greedy.
Walk on with hope in your heart and youll never walk alone.
I`d rather sink trying to be different, than stay afloat like everyone else.
You never win the silver, you only lose the gold.
Deewar again is a very modern film. And for me just one dialogue of Amitabhs is the whole film. "Main Gire Huye Paise Aaj Bhi Nahi Uthata". I would give my life for a film with a dialogue like this. I preferred this even to that legendary line, "Tumhare Paas Kya Hai? Mere Paas Maa Hain."
I am like a Rolls Royce which can run without an engine, just on reputation.
Often I dont say hello to people for fear that they may not remember me.
Sometimes I dont want to dignify things with answers. And it takes a huge amount of self-restraint, patience, control, and love for your own family, to keep quiet. And dignity, and perhaps the status that I have in the eyes of the people.
I think contradictions are the spice of life, that’s what makes life happy.
I live hand-to-mouth and I love it that way. I guess that is why I am the King and I don’t get into the nonsense of savings, money, etc.
Id like to believe theres a little of Hitler and Napoleon in me. Even if I try, I cant be as selfless as Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa.
I can go on and on - I will end this review by stating that my love for SRK is so much that if he was born to be a star, I was born to be his devotee. SRK needs no approval from anyone that he is the KING. He was always the KING and its just that people recognize his status as a king after he made it biiiig.
