Shahid Afridi is a load of crap he does Pakistan more bad than good. By using him as a pinch hitter in his first and second matches he has been forever destroyed.
Blasting away opponents every match is extremely rare in any sport, let alone cricket. Afridi makes his intentions very clear early on, he smacks one or two sixes and then gets out trying one more. I’m afraid it doesn’t work that way, world class bowlers now know not to bowl full of a length on the leg stump to this guy, because that’s the only ball he is capable of hitting.
Until he learns that opening the innings has much more responsibility, he will not be a world class performer. If he doesn’t like responsibility then put him down the order, down to number 7 or 8.
I won’t deny what this guy can do. On his day Afridi can single handedly blow the opposition out of business. Afridi at times deals sixes that sail out the stadium. Such is his power hitting, he was the only player to hit 12 runs of one ball, by hitting the roof in the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. No other player has managed that.
Fans argue that Afridi should play for Pakistan because of his bowling. Well lets put it this way he averages 39.00 with the ball and that my friends in ODI cricket is very poor. He doens’t stop the run rate, his economy is almost 5.00, he should not be allowed to bowl with these kind of figures.
When Afridi learns his role and when he learns to control his aggression, only then will he be the greatest power hitter that walked this planet.
