Well, the media doesnt talks much about his performances, the film magazines dont put him in their top ten lists, even the awards who seem to be awarding anyone and everyone dont award him...
BUT, the audience loves him... he has been going on with a rate of one super per year and that too, solo here films... last year it was Jab We Met and before that it was Vivaah...
Well, Shahid Kapur is one of the FINEST young actors we have in our industry. he is good-looking, hard-working and very talented... and above all, he is young... the industry such desperaely need younger people... all we get to see these days are stories of middle-aged people (anyways, its far better than men in 40s acting as if they are still in 20s)
Now, lets have a look at his performances...
When he first came in Ishq Vishq, he looked like a cute boy next door... his acting was also okay... but the real surprise came with FIDA, where he showed a drastic improvement... then he did some films which he shouldnt have done... like Waah! life ho to aisi, Dil Mange More... etc. but notice one thing that even when his films were bad, he wasnt... he always does justice to his character...
then came 36 China Town, the film did average business but you started to feel that he should do more variety of roles... just then, he gave Chup Chup Ke... it was a Fantastic Performance by Shahid... the film did not do too well but he was just great in it...
in November 2006, VIVAAH happened, and Shahid became a star... although the media said that the film belongs to Sooraj Barjatya and Amrita Rao, it is a fact thatpeople just loved Shahid in that film... he was as important for the film as Amrita & Sooraj Barjatya...
I still dont know why he did Fool -n- Final...
And then came Jab We Met... it is his best film till date... he did in JWM what Shah Rukh did in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai or Amir did in Raja Hindustani... a brilliant act... he proved that in this age when films are becoming too dialogue - oriented, you can still act brilliantly without saying much...
and now he is coming up with Pathshaala in whic he plays a school teacher (i saw the set... its close to my college) and Kismet Connections... I just hope that this time, along with the audience, the media also supports him... it will be better that calling John a superstar considering his last hit was in 2004 with three heros and some cool bikes...
