Shakti Ford is the embodiment of everything that is wrong in the auto servicing/repair market in India. In the guise of a professionally managed unit, with an AC waiting lounge e.g, a completely archaic model of a garage exists. The mechanics are least interested in making the customer understand what is wrong with their car but in trying and adding moreJobs to be done in their job card.
I took my Ford Ikon there for a brake checkup but end up discovering that a lot is seriously wrong with my car and I have to act fast. Even though I was suspicious but I didnt want to take a chance. 2 days and 10000Rs later the same mechanic was telling me that the cause of the problem was something else and will need to replace another part for 5500Rs. To say I felt cheated would be an understatement. But you could tell its routine work for the mechanic. Use their position of advantage by making up problems in the car and solve those imaginary problems. And make their commision.
The day after I took my car back its battery died down and I was told the alternator assembly need to be replaced. Cost 9500Rs. I had no option as the car was immovable. I talked to the Ford greivence people in Chennai but they were of no help. It took 8 days for the alternator to arrive from their store. Not even once Shakti Ford called me to update me. I had to call everyday 2-3 times to find out whether the part has been dispatched or not.
So 10 days with Shakti Ford. 20000Rs+. And more problems in the car then it originally had.
Mileage down to 6 from 9kmpl
A drag in the car while driving
Takes lot of time to start.
I wanted to share this experience so that anyone dealing with them is very careful and involve the manager right from the beginning and let them know you are not going to let them get away with any cheating.
P.S: Their emergency service is a sham. When the car battery died down the emergency guy arrived 6 hours later.
