SHakti kapoor has been in the news for a while, a woman reporter from a tv channel posed to be an aspiring actress and had been calling him up for six months and she had kept in touch with him more then six months and one day she called me over and she kept saying that she’ll do anything to be an actress, this was recorded and shown on t.v. long time ago. Shakti kapoor said on the news that he had been framed by the girl the tape was edited. Shakti kapoor also said that the leading actors of bollywood did sexual favors preity zinta, rani mukherjee, ashwaryia rai had also done this to get in the film industry.
SHakti kapoor has also been banned to do some films by by the members of the producers guild of india. Out of 170 members of the group only three were present to ban shakti kapoor for any of their film productions yash chopra, subash ghai and amit khanna.
Shakti kapoor is one of the most comic actors to come to the bollywood screen. since the start of his career he has done more then 300 films. He had been often nominated for the filmfare awards for the comedian category. His on screening pairing with a another comic actor kadar khan as his son often led to laugable and hit comedies. Shakti kapooor is a very versatile actor and he looks equally convincing as a villain or a comedian. He has several films to his credit where he has outdone to the role given to him.
Shakti kapoor’s first film was kahani kismat ki starring dharmendra and rekha, he didnot get any recognition with this role and went on to do side villain roles in film like do jasoos, sangram, jaani dushman, sargam, kismat, yaari dushmani and bambai ka maharaja and struggled to get a hit like many actors in the start of their career. Then finally firoz khan directed qurbani and shakti kapoor was taken as a solo villain, and people loved his acting. Shakti kapoor along with amrish puri gives an incredibl performance which I can still remember today.
Then there was no turning back as shakti kapoor had joined the category of phenomenal villains like amrish puri, prem chopra, ranjeet, danny, gulshan grover etc. Next film was rocky which was sanjay dutt’s first film and it did average business and shakti kapoor again plays a villain. With great roles in films like naseeb, giraftar, sultanat, himatwala, tohga which made him a fulltime villain.
Along with villain roles shakti kapoor also tried his hands on comedy roles with statte pe satta he plays amitabh;s younger brother and you can watch this film anytime, other was baap numbri beta dus number with kadar khan the movie really has some funny moments, although kadar khan got the award for best comedian in this film shakti kapoor and him were great as a team. Next comedy performance was in the film mast kalandar where he plays inspector sher singh, the movie is a another comedy I watch any time starring dharmendra, anupam kher and amrish puri.
WHo can forget his crime mastergogo performance from the film andaz apna apna truly one of the best acting by any person in a comedy role. His performance as nandu in the film raja babu got him a filmfare award for best comedian, his dialogues nandu sab ka bandu was great in the whole film. My favorite scene from the film was when shakti kapoor and govinda are in the theatre and watching a amitabh movie. SOme other great performances are in coolie number one where plays brother in law of kadar khan as goverdhan. IN bol radha bol he has also given a good performance.
Judwaa, loafer, hero no.1, banarsi babu, all are comedy films where he gives good performances. He has starred in most of david dhawan’s films. HIs other good performances as villain are in the film Baaghi starring salman khan, where he plays a don named dhanraj, aankhen he plays tejasvar, laadla, diljaale etc. My favorite performance of shakti kapoor remains in the film AATISH directed by sanjay gupta, gupta first movie. SHakti kapoor plays a don name sunny who kills his boss ajit and becomes the boss himself. The talks between sanjay dutt, shakti kapoor and aditya pancholi are great. This performance definetly deserved a villain award.
SHakti kapoor is still coming in films recent release malamal weekly which is a hit already, umar, dosti, barsaat and his forthcoming movies include phir hera pheri, ek haseena ek diwana, nehle pe dehla and tom dick and harry.
