If you travel across the world, you will notice that india has abudant numbers of ancestral gifts in the form of monuments, caves and palaces. You can’t enjoy such ancestral gifts without visiting these places. they are magnificiant, huge and beautiful.


shaniwar wada is one of the such beautiful ancestral gift. Shaniwar wada is a historical fortification in the city of pune in maharashtra, India. Built in 1732, it was the seat of the peshwas of the maratha empire untill 1818, when the peshwas lost control to British East India company after the third Anglo-Maratha war. the palace then bacame the center of Indian Politics in 18th century.


The forte was largely destroyed by an unexplained fire in 1828, but the surviving remains are now maintained as tourist site


The shaniwar wada wad originally the seven storied capital building of the peshwas of the maratha Empire. It is supposed to be made of stones after the completetion of the base floor.


On feb 27, 1828, a great fire started inside the palace and it’s flames remained blazing for seven days. every thing was destroyed inspite the heavy granites and ramparts .


The buildings said to have been designed and constructed by well-known artisans including Shivaram krishna, devaji and kondaji sutar.


The complex have an impressive lotus-shaped fountan. It was designed as a sixteen jels withinan eighty-foot each It was the most complicated fountain of its time. The most important thing about the shaniwar wada is it has five gates and each one of them was constucted for special person’s entry. The second was used by mastani to visit bajirao 1.
