Always a favourite on special occasions due to it’s excellent quality of service & food.
I have taken groups of friends for casual dinners & for formal, business meals on several different occasions & have had exceptional experiences there. When it comes to intimate dinners for two, this restaurant is really on the ball.
The staff is well mannered & trained, with the right blend of courtesy, deference & desire to serve. This makes any occasion memorable as the quality of service is as important as the food.
The Italian food was excellent - last night I had a Gamberetti Napoli (Prawns & Mushrooms in an exquisite cheese, tomato & spinach sauce). The quantity of pasta (my choice : fetuccini) with the meal was on the smaller side, with a huge quantity of prawns & mushrooms. The delicacy of flavour of the prawns was well merged with the weight & depth of the sauce. An excellent white wine recommended by the steward complemented the meal perfectly.
In my opinion, the only issue with this restaurant is the seriously tacky decor. The large sized statues need to be chucked in the bin. The the tables & chairs could also do with a fresh coat of paint - the place looks quite used! The layout & design shouldn’t be changed at all though. Printing new menus would also be a good idea. I can’t comment on the Indian food (although I’ve heard it’s excellent) as I’ve yet to try it.
Definitely a restaurant you’d like to ’’vada ancora a’’.
