I chanced to see this movie by pure luck - having nothing better to do, borrowed a disk from my friend and this was it. At that time, I’d not even heard about the movie(how? you may ask). But once I saw it, it immediately climbed to be one of my all-time favourite movies.
This is one movie that has it all. A wonderful story, great plot with the proverbial twist at the end of the tale and wonderful performances by both Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. It’s based on a book / novellete by Stephen King. I haven’t read the book, but I’m pretty sure that - unlike many cases - in this case, the movie far outshines the book.
Unfortunately, the movie won no Academy Awards. It was nominated for 7 though. Am not sure in which year, and which movies actually topped it - must have been some pretty good ones, because in my book, this movie deserves at least a few!
