“The funny thing is, I was an honest man, straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook” - Andy Dufresne

The beauty of this movie is the more you watch the more you want, being its watching again and again or reading about it or just thinking about it. Ever since I heard about this masterpiece I always tried catching it up, Sometimes I switch among the channels and the some of the scenes of the movie were airing but I did not go with that as I wanted to get it from very first frame till last.

The patience paid off and one day I got a chance to catch it form the beginning. The next two and half hours I couldn’t think of getting my mind and eyes away from the screen. The move not just talks about the “Redemption” but there are many elements which are underneath. I am sure it wd have been a tough job for the writer(Special mention to – Stephen King) to make out the title. How a prison redemption can help a person to rejoin the society, to become an integral part of the social life out side the prison wall after spending a more than life time inside.

Cast

Tim Robbins played a terrific role as Andy Dufresne. Morgan freeman as RED flows the story with his innocence and special sense of character. As the story goes all the characters aid shaping up the plot. As said by RED - “Get busy living, or get busy dying” explains the mindset of a personer who has spend a huge and important span of his life by "committing a terrible crime being a young stupid kid".

Script

Coming to the plot it’s a story of a banker who is accused of double murder and spending a life sentence at a prison names – “Shawshank Prison”. The movie is not just describes the life at prison but it also explores many dimensions as the story proceeds ahead. There are many chapters which are integrated and gives an immortal shape to the story.

Cinematography

The cinematography the star cast the story everything catches-up so well while watching it feels like we are part of the move and surrounded by its characters.

Effects

The movie has the most authentic look of a vintage prison. The visuals of the surroundings and coordination of the inmates are wondefully picturised.

Recommendation

The movie is a wonderful Gem of Art and made with a complete heartly dedication, really enjoyable with friends and Family.

Memorable Sequences

  • Andy’s financial advice for the Jail Guard regarding his son’s future

  • The encounter of prison incharge with Andy

  • Andy’s library staff

  • The final rain sequence

  • RED was also Here!

With each chapter unfolds it tells a new story in it. As the movie comes to the climax the wonder happens, the story reveals a tale of patience, survival and endurance. The movie is one of the beautifully made portrait ever. The cinematography is unimaginable, the piece of art is rare to find.

I can say the more I write about this magnum opus the more I feel attached towards it. Definitely a must watch! again an again.
