Captain Vikram Batras biopic is layered with a gripping storyline and deep-set emotions. With thrilling visuals and the skilful adaptation of one of Indias most consequential wars, Shershaah was truly an intense performance.
Shershaah, the eponymous movie, chronicles the life of a feisty, young Vikram Batra whose only dream is to become a "fauji". While the first half of the movie is relaxed, it follows Vikrams growth— from his bright, patriotic childhood to his coming of age.
The audience is then catapulted into the realities of being in the army as we follow Captain Batras journey and eventual posting at Kargil. The Kargil War was a significant moment in Indian history and director Vishnu Varadhan has done it justice. Shershaah goes beyond depicting army battalions as hard-faced men ready for combat. It aptly portrays them as stern, rugged professionals with sensitive and caring spirits.
Shershaah ignites a sense of patriotism in the audiences hearts and reminds us of the sheer courage, sacrifice, and valour it takes to become an Indian soldier.
