Hello Readers!
Shillong is a hill station in northeast India and capital of the state of Meghalaya. It’s known for Lady Hydari Park’s manicured gardens. Nearby, Ward’s Lake is surrounded by walking trails. North, the Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures features displays on the region’s native people. Waterfalls include the Elephant Falls to the southwest. East of here, forested Shillong Peak offers city views.
It has one airport has has best connectivity of flights from Kolkata. Only propeller plans fly to this airport. Here, summers are pleasant and pollution free. Shillong is just 100 km(62 mi) from Guwahati which can be accessed by road along NH 40, a journey of about 2 hours 30 minutes through lush green hills and the magnificent Umiam lake in between.
It is best suited for couples. With this I mean that families who cant afford an expensive honeymoon can keep Shillong as an option in their list. Also, people from nearby places like Guwahati, Kolkata, etc. visit this place to get some sort of relief from the scorching summers. Following are the places of interest for a tourist in Shillong:-
Elephant Falls
Lady Hydari Park
Wards Lake
Shillong Golf Course
Motphran
Shillong Peak
Capt. Williamson Sangma State Museum
Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures
Entomological Museum(Butterfly Museum)

The Shillong Peak has shops where one can find really very good quality of woolen clothes which are weaved locally in the state of Meghalaya.
