Shillong, is a hill station in northeastern state of Meghalaya. It is also called as the "Scotland of the East" and also "abode of clouds". It truly resembles its name, always amidst the clouds. It offers innumerable choices to a wanderlust to take in every inch of the city. It is home to numerous waterfalls, amazing crystal clear lakes, serene green valleys and golf courses, museums and zoos.
It is also a passageway to cherrapunjee, also called mawsynram, which receives the highest rainfall and so is the wettest pace on earth. There are also famous root bridges, and caves.
Shillong is basically known for its western culture, Jovial people and tasty food. People of shillong basically speak Khasi(their mother tongue) . one must try their local foods, namely tungtab(fermented dry fish, a wide variety of momos( pork momos in shillong are very famous), Dohneiiog( a pork dish), tarumbai(fermented beans), Jadoh.
