Shimla is also known as the Queen of Hill Stations. Shimla can be reached by train or road transport.
Shimla is about 100 kms from Chandigarh. It takes about four hours to cover this distance by car. The road starts on an uphill journey from Parvanoo. The drive is very winding and you come across several hair-in turns. You need to be a very experienced driver to take up this journey. The sight on the drive is very attractive. You must keep your eyes wide open and be very careful all through the drive. Try to avoid travelling at night. You come across many vendors selling tea popcorn and maggie noodles, enroute.
I suggest Hotel Himgiri at Shimla for your stay. This hotel gives you total satisfaction for money spent. Its quite reasonable and the food and service is excellent. The view from the hotel is mesmerising.
You need at least three days to visit the various places of attraction. Most of all, The Mall is unavoidable. Then we have some temples to visit. We need to go to Kufri also which is even higher than Shimla. The Glen is worth visiting.
The most enjoyable time to go to Shimla is in winters if you enjoy snow fall. But as is the case of all hill stations, one can get stranded in case the weather takes an unpleasant turn.
So guys go for it. Shimla is value for money. It happens to be my birth place too, so I have an ever so soft corner for Shimla.Chao!
