To summarise in a line, Shimla is Beautiful! Ive satiated my appetite of hills, hill stations and long walks through the woods for the time being. The state museum (reached after a number of directions, and misdirections of people!) was fine, but the Viceregal Lodge (where the british ruled India from in the summers) was breathtakingly royal! Especially the chairs, chipndale furniture, centrury old tapestry....it reminded my of Lagaan! And in the Himalayan bird park closeby, a peacock greted me with a dance 2 feet away; geese rossed my path a foot off!
The station and railway line looked so quaint. Name of places here are pure Raj...the glen, mall, ridge; buildings and cottages so charmingly beautiful. The best part is scanal point where the entire population of Shimla between age 6 and 80 seems to descend come evening - I too spent an hour here looking at people like everyone else!! Its like the katta (favoured section of the wall opposite the grocery shop!)

Also dont miss travelling by the train from shimla to kalka ... its almost like a toy train and the 3 hours ride takes you thru dense floiage, twittering birds, quaint stations amongst hills, brooks, waterfalls (if in the right season) or snow, will make you want for more!
