Good veg food after shopping at Com street

This review is about ShivSagar Restaurant near Commercial street. Serves only veg fair. Its for breakfast as well for lunch, for evening snacks as well as dinner. Has a good range on the menu. Great ambience. Clean. Good service. Food is good too.

Its quite likely that you may have missed this little restaurant among various small shops which sell clothes and footwear. Actually its not a small place ....once you enter you realise what was hidden behind a not so big entrance.

The ambience is created by beautiful wall-paintings of the Rajasthan desert ....there are camels, forts, women in traditional attire and men performing folk dance. I must say these paintings do add a lot of charm to this place. It compensates for the not so comfortable seating, sometimes the place seems too crowded.

The food is mostly fresh and honest. When I order the ’thali’ or mini-meals, the ’roti’ or ’naan’ comes piping hot. All the vegetable curries are good and you feel satisfied with what you have eaten. I have also tried Dahi Vada, Tomato Omlette and Neer Dosa ....all tasted good, except the red chutney which has an overdose of garlic. I would prefer a fresh mint chutney instead.

When I looked at what other people were enjoying, I was amazed with the variety. Maybe I need to visit often to tryout different items.

Prices are high. But it is all justified. The kind of food they serve is more important than the cost. The service is also good enough.

So the next time you finish shopping at Commercial street, don’t forget to checkout this place. I am sure you won’t regret!
