An e-commerce website from 1915

Shopclues is an e-commerce website which retails products across categories. The website has a large range of products at attractive price points.


The first problem arises when you try to complete an order: I attempted payment through Citrus Cash three times without success. I was finally forced to complete payment using PayU money, which indicates that the problem was probably at the Citrus Cash end?


But that was just the start of the story. Once payment was complete and the order placed and accepted by shopclues on the 11th of September, I expected that the product would reach me between the 17th and the 19th as indicated on the website. The expectation turned to elation when the website was updated to show that the product had been dispatched from New Delhi on the 14th.


And then the long waiting period started. The website was updated to show that the product had reached Mumbai on the 19th(I wonder which courier company takes five days for a New Delhi - Mumbai delivery?). And then was out for delivery to my address on the 20th, but was not delivered due to heavy rain(as per update on the website). Seriously? Their delivery guys were out making deliveries on Sunday? Obviously, the delivery guy was so exhausted from working on the Sunday, that till tonight(Wedneday night, 23rd Sept) he has not been able to try delivering the product again!


The funniest part of the whole episode is that today, they have updated the order details to show that the product has been dispatched on September 23rd, but they still show the previous delivery history!


I wonder if this is a professionally run company. Messages sent to them via facebook and twitter have not been responded to; email to the customer care has elicited a standard-ish "we are looking into it, have asked the partner to expedite"’pacify-the-customer’ kind of email.


Any company which is taking over 10 days to deliver a product and more than 24 - 48 hours to update the status can only be working in the year 1915, not 2015!
