All in 1 but not 1 in all

After experiencing the malls and Super malls abroad one, would defy SS being called as one but, in the Indian context I guess it would be appropriate to take that liberty. I first experienced this Mall in Mumbai about 5 years back. It was a novelty, rather a rage over there with my cousins going gaga over the huge astounding cinema turned into a shopping complex. I was understandably over whelmed to see that big a SHOP of clothes, gifts, toys, books etc all under one roof. One would come to the place just to hang around and kill a couple of hours (which is why the buggers kept parking refund on a certain shopping amount).

5 years later shopper’s stop at Ansal Plaza was a big news for the Delhi wallas. The place has attracted a lot of crowd oflate but if you really ask me, in terms of shopping experience I did not really find it exciting. I have been to the place about 10 odd times, but never was I able to pick up anything good. I mean the guys keep regular stuff (i am not only talking about Men’s stuff but my female friends also share the same opinion) which you cna get any where perhaps you get better stuff and better rates from your own tried and tested retail outlet in South Ex, GK or Lajpat Nagar.

A person wanting to shop in SS would expect a quality range (not quantity), good deals, exciting promotions /offers, good ambience etc. but at the end of the day you just get to experience good music. In all fairness to the place I would be rather excited to go visit Music world or Mc Donald’s at ansal plaza than to shop at Shopper’s Stop.

The guys have good range of Perfumes and Deo’s but again not exclusive, The section for kids seems to be OK as that always has high occupancy, for men the range in turn of numbers is huge, but I will not be sure of options to choose from. Their promotions have been outright failure the red tag thing seems to have made a lot of noise but I am not too upbeat on the response they would have got. The only thing that has recieved a lot of attention is the fact that it is open 7 days a week..so one does not have to worry about picnic spots at any point.

Ofcourse if you are the types who is comfortable with a couple of sales personnel at your service then, you must think twice before coming here coz I believe they virtually operate without sales staff. They expect people to run around from pillar to post hunting for the staff and clothes likewise. Frankly speaking, i would not like to comment on the service levels..they are not worth talking about.

In the end, I would not be even sure of what kind of market they are trying to reach out... probably they themselves are not very clear about it.
