SHOPPERS Stop: STOP the word itself rings two bells. The first obviously being SHOP to STOP, and the second STOP to SHOP.
This shop has branches in most of the metro cities in India, the first being started in amchi Mumbai a few years back when it was supposed to be one of the biggest mall at Mumbai, and a weekend stop for most of the Mumbaikars where it became the talk of the town and you could hear people sayHave you been to ShopperS? It was a big thing and so to say one of the happening places in town.
During the inception days it was mainly clothes. But slowly it grew its capacity for more storing stuff like shoes, perfumes, accessiories, music, kids section, watches, purses, sarees, mens wear formal & informal and the works.Mostly branded stuff and international products.Though the stuff is expensive a lot of people prefer to shop here as one could find a whole lot of range under one roof of different brands available. But I should mention here that their formal shoe section is really pathetic, the shoes stacked somehow seems very odd and oldish looking stuff, so better not waste time there.According to me some of the stuff is just not worth its price for T - Shirts etc. They have got their own brand also called Stop but not worth it.Even the childrens clothes seem pretty expensive, unless you are on a spending spree and want to splurge all at once.
As any international store they have got a Point Accumalation system too where one becomes a member if you have shopped over Rs1000/- it is calledFirst Citizen member. There are two cards one silver one gold.Once you enroll as a member , your points accumalation starts and you could redeem them for free gifts and offers available as per their existing scheme.
Shoppers also has a magazine which is released for the benifit of its customers called First Updatewhich speaks about the current happenings, offerings at the store for the month. It is also sent to all its card members.
Shoppers Stop also hosts a yearly festival sometime in August called Parikarama where it showcases the worksfrom various parts of the countryand various artisians works. It also has a small cafeteria in its premises, where shoppers could sip in and afcourse have some snacks. It obviously has some parking slots which is exclusively available for its members first, but the space is too small specially on a weekend that its next to impossible to get to the car park. One would witness a huge line of cars waiting to get in, but I believe now they have made some space available in nearby private building areas.
All I could say that the charm of this main shop at Andheri specially is slowly fading as there are according to me other huge shopping malls and complexes with theatres and the works in other parts of Mumbai which are better.
The SHOP Stop is becoming STOP SHOP
