Rediff is perhaps one of best known indian sites. though i’m not very sure whether i’m the proper person to write a review on an website and that also for a site like this, I thought to give it a try. i’m using rediff for around 2 years now. though i’m not much of a surfer and keep myself limited to certain aspects of the site.
the best thing about the site is in its promptness in flashing a news. if anything of importance happens anywhere , particularly in india, you can be sure to see it on the site. more often that not, it is one of the first site to atleast report the incident with the news following shortly.the articles and interviews are also quite good and informative.
their mail is definitely one of the best. it is really first and easy to use. only irritant is the information request pagfe which I encounter evrytime I enter the mail area. also their much advertised indian language fonts are not that effective (atleast not in all languages). i’ve tried it couple of times but ended up with some junk and english charahcter coupled with the specfic language fonts.
another weak point is the stock market update shown on the front page. normally there is a time gap and hence it is far from the actual position in the market.
i’ve casually gone thru’ some other section like shopping, chtting etc. but have not given it any serious look to actually comment on it.
all in all a very useful site and i’m satisfied with their performance.
