I was in lookout for a Nokia Lumia 720 white phone priced at Rs 18000 locally and Rs 16509 as the best online price on ebay.in. No coupon was getting applied as it was listed under the deal category. Browsing almost all the sites, I finally found this phone on shopping.rediff.com priced at Rs 15655 with an active Rs 750 off coupon. Final price was Rs 14905. I had read all bad reviews for rediff.
I opened mouthshut.com to see if things have changed but I read all bad reviews even on mouthshut.com. Not even a single person had written good about the site. I was also fascinated with the price offered by rediff and was in a dilemma whether to take a risk or not. Then, I came up with a strategy. I looked at the seller info. It was being sold by Sangeetha Mobiles, Bangalore. Again, all bad reviews for this seller. I googled and found their contact number. I called them to check if it was the same seller who had listed the phone on rediff. Spoke with Sunil and he said "Yes". Because, the color was not mentioned on the site, I asked him about the color available with them. He said "Cyan". I asked him if he could get me a white color. He asked for an hour’s time and told me that he would get back to me. He called me after 2 hours and told me that the white color was not in stock. I told him that I needed white color only. He asked for a day’s time and said he would check with the manufacturer - Nokia. Next day, he didn’t call me. I called him but he didn’t answer my calls. I made about 4-5 calls. Then, I called him on a different number and asked for Sunil. The receptionist transferred the call to him and this time he spoke with me (don’t know why he didn’t answer my phone directly).
Anyway, he told me that he got a reply from Nokia and that he has procured white color. He assured me that he would ship the phone asap. I also confirmed that he would send me a sealed box and VAT paid bill. I placed the order with rediff on last saturday night and called Sangeetha Mobiles on Monday in the afternoon to inform that I had placed the order. Sunil was not available but some other person told me that the phone had already been shipped out. I received my phone in a sealed box alongwith VAT Paid bill on Tuesday. I opened the box and Bingo.The phone was in perfect condition. No defect.
I don’t know if it was my smart work of contacting the seller directly and clearing all my doubts before placing the order with Rediff worked or in general the seller/rediff is good but I had a great shopping experience with rediff. I got the unbelievable price for the phone which is priced at MRP Rs 22295 and is not available anything less than Rs 17000 now. Just wanted to share my experience with you all.
