The first time I used Indiatimes auctions was when I spotted their BIG BOLD ads for late night auctions. The late night auctions had male prophylactics, assorted books, movies, gifts etc. Soon I was able to figure out that the time on Indiatimes server was off by 8 minutes which meant that auctions would close 8 minutes before scheduled and bids entered at the last moment would be winning bid. In ebay for ex, last minute bids actually extend the auction time. Soon I was winning KS packs at 50-70% prices. The whole of my office started ordering their KS packs through me. Occasionally some dodo would outbid me but patience paid off. Anyways, I must have caused enough loss to ensure late night auctions stopped.
I also got sick of Times of India filling up valuable newsprint with ads of its own silly products and stopped the newspaper as well.
Next time I visited, was for airline tickets. Seems Air Sahara officially makes available tickets at discounted prices on this website only. A quick check using other travel sites, calls to Air Sahara & travel agents assured me that this was the best way to buy Air Sahara Tickets. All you need to do is plan in advance (and have a Credit card).
I personally had good experience flying Air Sahara, and the prices on offer were unmatched. You had to bid 24 days in advance of flying. Where lowest fare quoted by my Agent was INR 3400/- for One-Way hyderabad to kolkata (Air Deccan), I got them off Air-Sahara auctions for just 2400/- !!!
I have bought tickets thrice at the site with absolutely no problems. Important: remember to take a printout of the PNR details page generated on the website 3 days after the auction close, to collect your ticket at Air Sahara Counter. No printout, no ticket.
Recently, minimum fare to Kol has been hiked to INR 3400/- on the website, and new entry SpiceJet was giving tickets for 1999/-, so this is what I have bought for my trip to Kolkata in December. Air Deccan made available sudden discounts on tickets to Kol, so I bought more tickets from them (INR 1200 & 1500). Sorry, Air Sahara, maybe next time.
