Indiatimes - Crooks & Thugs

I ordered a Samsung AC from Indiatimes. (Order No. - 3002172364) on 31st March. I was initially delighted to see the 10% upfront discount on AC. My ordeal started here. AC was not delivered till 16th of April when it was promised that it will be delivered by 10th.

When finally the shipment came - Courier guy asked me Octroi charges of 1700 extra. I was shocked because it was not mentioned anytime during my order. On calling Indiatimes, the call center guy told me that you don’t have to bear it but let me just confirm it from my finance dept.

Later he said that policy is now updated - and everything will have to be bear by customer himself. On asking that why I was not informed while placing the order - he said it has been updated on website (I wonder if the staff themselves were not aware - how can they expect poor customer to be aware about it) & if Indiatimes duty is done by just updating it on its website.

Indiatimes has given me good benefits in the past but this was a shell shocker. You order something and you won’t know how much Octroi will hit you. These policy change should be communicated in bold so that customer doesn’t feel cheated. While buying it said this is all inclusive price - finally I am getting it at higher than my neighborhood store. This is daylight cheating.

I guess I will just lose 1700 rs but Indiatimes will lose a faithful and loyal customer for life.

Dear Manika,We really regret for the inconvenience you have faced but according to our policy we are not entitled to pay the octroi charges so please take this scenario as an exception and not as a yardstick to evaluate our customer service and we will make sure that in future their will be no such ambiguities.
