I booked 2 one way tickets from Delhi to Mumbai on the travel.indiatimes.com website. On the website, they had stated that Indiatimes would charge a Rs.200/- cancellation fee over an above the airline charges. It was nowhere specified what the airline cancellation charges would be. Due to some unforseen circumstances I had to cancel my trip and informed indiatimes well before my departure date (almost a week before) and requested a cancellation of my tickets and refund my money after deducting the requisite cancellation charges including airline charges. To my horror, the inditimes staffer told me that my tickets were non-refundable and that my entire amount of Rs.5900/- for the 2 tickets would be forfieted. When I said that it was not mentioned on the website that the said tickets were non-refundable, the staffer informed me that the ACTUAL AIRLINE RULES of the fare are only DECLARED ONLY ONCE THE TICKET IS ISSUED. When I threatened to dispute the charges with my credit card company (the card I used was a US card where consumer laws are a little more favorable) and take them to court for this, the NON-REFUNDABLE TICKET automatically BECAME REFUNDABLE. Indiatimes.com it seems are VERY COMPETENT CHEATS AND SEASONED FRAUDSTERS and is completely a BUYER BEWARE establishment. I have used other online travel sites both in India and the US. My experience with GoAir is simply great but I was really taken aback by this experinece.
