I purchased a DVD player from indiatimes.com 8 months back. They supplied a defective DVD player which never worked. I complained to Indiatimes and after consistent following up with them their representative collected the defective piece and promised to replace the same. This guy disappeared from the face of the earth and was never spotted.
I had to go back to the grind of following up and after many many tries, finally they replied: that the same piece is not available and they shall refund my money. I was surprised because never in my lifetime had I heard of an INDIAN company ever refunding the money. Our consumer laws ensure that such companies thrive and exist by LOOTING the unsuspecting consumer.
SO, I go back to the following up regimen for another couple of months and finally gave up when I realized my communication bills were actually going above what the DVD product actually costed. I am still awaiting return of my Rs.2000 from Indiatimes.
