If Napster Was Smart ...

Napster should be banned but it was their own fault in the beginning to even open up business.  Of course copyrighting music is a legal offence and one can get sued for millions of dollars for doing so.  Had Napster had done the following maybe they could have gotten away with it.

If they had followed what the newest programs had been doing, such as Kazaa, Winmx, Morpheus and other new downloading programs, then they would have excelled and done good.  The format mp3 was the only one that they carried why?!

Had they kept the mp3 format and allowed:

1) .wav

2) .jpg, .gif, .bmp

3) .mpeg, .avi, .mpg, .asf

. to be on their servers, the programs objective would allow people to download pictures, videos and sounds AS WELL as mp3’s.  The music industry would not consider Napster a music trading site, but an overall trading site.

Well even though it is illegal, consumers still get to preview these songs and see if an album is good enough for their hard earned money.  Nevermind the’Let the Buyer Beware’ slogan of the past exist . that was thrown in the garbage.

Why the hell should I have to pay for trashy music when a band has one good song, forget it!

If Napster had followed the idea of a Waterloo, Ontario University Student and located their servers on a private island where laws do not exist, then Napster would have been saved.

Overall Thoughts .

Although, everyone loves Napster and would always argue for it rather than against, we need to realize that there are laws pending in this situation and you can’t avoid them.
