Avoid Hospital Unless Necessary

Before few days, my father-in-law had got diarrhea and with our physician’s advice, we admitted him to Shree hospital - here is my experience with this hospital:

  1. If you see the building from outside, you realize that its many year’s old building which does not have basic facilities like parking too. We thought it will be cheap, but to our surprise, it was 5-times costlier than well-known Sahyadri or Jehangir hospital!

  2. Doctors put him in so-called ICU which is actually general ward- no AC, no TV, no newspaper, no seat for attendant and only mosquitos in the room - open room with 2 beds. For that, they charge ICU rate (higher than 5-star hospital’s rates).

  3. Doctor told to move to private room after 2 hours but shifted only after a day. To our surprize, private AC room also didn’t have TV, bed or anything and filled with mosquitoes where you can not even stand for few minutes.

  4. Doctor took advantage when I was home and did some tests which were completely irrelevant and charged Rs. 4500 for those- completely unethical.

  5. Doctor charged separate charges for BP monitor (Rs.7000 a day) and additional nursing and medical attendant charges and injection putting charges (Rs. 500 / injecting - medicine charges are separate only). Then, what does one mean by ICU?!

  6. Even though the problem was resolved in a day, he was forced to stay for 3 days under the name of observation.

  7. Finally, we paid Rs. 40, 000 for 3-day stay in general ward in some stupid hospital where there were no facilities and only mosquitos flying.

  8. Only good point was Dr. Dhorepatil who was discussing case well and assuring us for best treatment.

  9. Staff is rude and don’t know how to do their work - one nurse took around 20 minutes to take ECG as she didn’t know how to take ECG and was learning. BP monitor for which we were charged Rs. 7000 was OFF for most of the time as it was in bad condition and had errors and stopped most times- no staff to attend even after repeated calls.

  10. Overall, its completely unbelievable to spend Rs. 40, 000 for 3-day visit in general ward in some years-old building with no facilities at all. Also, this happened when they knew that we are doing in cash treatment with no insurance - dont know how much they have looted if we had cashless.

Please visit this hospital only if you want to lose hard-earned money for no reasons. You can get much better treatment at fraction of a cost in well-known Sahyadri or Jehangir or Columbia Asia.
