SSGMCE was an eye opener for me

Yes, not only the SSGMCE, but the entire Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj Trust was an eye opener for me. I have never been a student at SSGMCE, but I was highly impressed by what I saw at the College, the Computer Lab, Engineering Workshop and the huge Library. It can be compared with any IIT in India. A word about Shegaon. It is a Tehsil in the Buldana District ( Vidharva Region ) of Maharashtra State, and is situated on the Howrah - Bombay main line, just 45 minutes beyond Akola. The climate was cool in December. I realised that due to the Sant Gajanan Maharaj influence, Shegaon is a vegetarian town. Only near the Railway Station some boiled eggs were being sold. Sant Gajanan, a mystic Sant, was a friend of Sai Baba of Sirdi. We were at Shegaon during 19 and 22 December 2001 to attend the 50th Annual Conference of the Indian adult Education Association, New Delhi, of which I was a Vice-President. There were 200 Members of IAEA and their family members for the Conference. If I can echo their voice, it can be like this: Everything Superb. You get up in the morning at 5, and you hear the Bhajans on Sant Gajanan. Our Conference was inaugurated by the Chief Trustee of Sant Gajanan Trust, Shri Patil. The Trust runs, besides SSGMCE, a School for the Tribal boys and girls, a School for Disabled Children and a Weaving Centre where the children weave colourful towels and other products. The children of both the Schools had put up a very interesting Cultural Programme one evening. I can say that the educational endeavour of the Trust is from KG to PG, each one vertically integrated to the next above it. The Trust also runs Allopathic, Aurvedic and Homoeopathic Charitable Dispensaries. Dr. Wakde, the Principal of the Engineering College, is a very knowledgeable person full of humility, and so also his charming wife. There we met one lady very close to us - Vaidehi Apa. Her son is a Lecturer in Management there. The Trust is having a Project called Anand Sagar to create another Garden like the Vrindaban Garden of Mysore. I am writing this in the morning of Vasant Panchami. My Salutations to Sant Gajanan and his friend Sai Baba. Om Tat Sat !
