Shriji Rasoi, Ameerpet,

Eating is a very tough business. First you need to be hungry and then identify the place where you want to visit to satiate your hunger. That’s not all, you also need to take up all the pain to drive to reach to that particular place. So on a Friday evening when my Friend and I were all hungry, wanting to hog to celebrate the arrival of weekend, we stumbled upon Shriji Rasoi.

The moment you enter the place, you will feel like you are entering someone’s backyard. Plastic dining tables, chairs laid against the un-polished stones welcomes you on your arrival. Without wasting much of our time, we quickly made ourselves comfortable choosing the best available seating option.

We had set our expectations right and didn’t paid much attention to the ambience. Food was the only thing on our mind and we waited desperately to try out the delicacies, but alas!

Masala Papad – Fried and Crispy Papad topped with excellent amount of Onions, Tomatoes, Cucumber mixed together with spices. Out taste buds completely loved it and while the main course was served we kept on binging super-fast to avoid Papad getting soggy.

Paneer Butter Masala – The tried and tested and more often used to judge to see where the Restaurant stands on its taste. I found it to be medium ok and nothing great. Even quantity was less for the price they offered. Gravy was watery and paneer cubes were less. Still, it went OK with Hot Phulkas and Aloo Paratha.

Aloo Paratha – No Maida, 100% Wheat flour and moderately stuffed masala. Killer! It would remind you of your Mom’s cuisine. But again Rs 50 for single Paratha I found it to be over-priced.

Mixed Fried Rice – Tiny chunks of Paneer and Cauliflower along with regular vegetables tossed in Rice. Bland in taste and lacked the flavour completely.

May be I should have skipped Paneer and have tried the Desi Veggies such as Aloo Gobi, Bhendi, Shimla Mirchi, etc. Would like to go again to try out these delicacies to see what drives so many Foodies over here. Service is too quick with constant smile on their faces.
